SUNDAYS : St.Paul's Church, Barnstaple

Together, changing lives for good!

There is almost always an option for those who prefer either a modern service, with families and children present, or a smaller, quieter service in traditional language. Within those options there is even more variety, though there is a pattern that we generally follow. At the 10am service on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays, our services are less formal, and the Music Group usually play. On the 3rd Sunday, Communion(the Eucharist) is only available at the 8am service.

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays, hymns and songs at the 10am are usually accompanied by the organ.

The normal pattern for traditional language services is 8am Holy Communion on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, and at 6.30pm, Holy Communion on the 2nd Sunday and Evensong on the 4th Sunday. At these services, there is organ accompanyment and hymns only at the evening services.

becoming part of a worldwide family...

Sometimes on a Sunday, there is a baptism service. Often this is of a young child, in the font, where a parent is already an active member of a church. Less frequent is the baptism of an older child or adult who declares their faith in public. To the left is a video clip from the first pool baptism in St.Paul's Church, which took place in December 2011. Previously we had visited a church with a baptistry to conduct a baptism by immersion.

interactive art wall coming soon

A large interactive art wall is surrently being painted for us as the main feature of our children's corner. This also has a good stock of books and toys for younger children to enjoy.

Sundays give us the chance to come together not just for worship, but also for fellowship. At the back of the church is an area for this purpose, with a plentiful supply of coffee, tea, or squash and biscuits after the main morning service.

Our weekly newssheet contains brief details of upcoming events or special services. This can be made available by email - just ask. We also hope to put some special events and services on our facebook page, once some problems with past internet privacy and security issues have been dealt with.

Please note that at special festival times, around Mothering Sunday, Easter, Harvest (1st Sunday in October), and Christmas, services often vary from the normal pattern.
